Puno, established in 1668 Puno is the most attractive large city in the Peruvian Andes. Puno is a port city on Lake Titicaca, home to a university and possesses many colonial buildings. Most of all, for the uninformed traveller, it has a much lower crime rate than nearby Juliaca.

Puna Humeda (wet region of high Andes that results in greater concentrations wildlife and domestic animal production, such as alpacas, sheep and Swiss cattle.)

Puna Seco (dry region of high Andes that with lower densities of wildlife and traditional domestic animals,  such as llamas)

Nunoa, an ancient Quechua town in the Andes known for raising llamas and alpacas

Ayaviri, home to Rural Alianza, the largest alpaca cooperative in the world

The Osprey is amongst the world's most successful predatory birds. It is fairly common along sea coasts, rivers, and lakes throughout the world, with the exceptions of the polar regions.  This pair is readying their nest for their brood of chicks.
